A Chinese Export Silver Jug of unusually slender classical form. It is decorated around its centre with chrysanthemum against a hammered background and has a thin, bamboo handle.
Marked WH, for Wang Hing '宏兴‘ which was the biggest silver retailer in China from the 1860s to the 1940s and the most well known and influential. Wang Hing worked with over a hundred different silversmiths supplying their shops in Canton, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. This jug has the maker's mark of '益' (Yi)
