Chinese Export Silver Biscuit Box circa 1890, of barrel shape with plain pull-off lid. This extremely unusual box, which could equally be used for ice as well as biscuits (but not at the same time!) is decorated with well defined grapes and trailing vine applied around the upper half.
There are three marks on the underside, showing the retailer to be Luen Hing, the maker as Luo Ji (洛記) and the figure 90 as an indication of the purity of the silver.
