A Chinese Silver Card Case embossed and chased with figural scenes of Chinese scholars among bamboo and pine trees on a matte background.The card case has a hinged lid and a vacant oval cartouche and dates from around 1880.
The retailer mark is LW for Luen Wo. From the 1870s to the 1920s, Luen Wo was the largest silver retailer in Shanghai, which was at that time the most prosperous city in the Far East. The maker's mark is ‘公和’ (Gong He).
