Chinese Export Silver Table Box of rectangular shape, embossed and chased with prunus decoration on a "cracked-ice" background and with a single oval vacant cartouche on the hinged lid. The interior is lightly gilded.
Retailed by HC for Hung Chong, and made by Xiang Long (祥隆), circa 1890.
Hung Chong began supplying silverware to Westerners in Canton in the 1850s and was one of the first Cantonese silver retailers in Shanghai from around 1870.
