A Large Silver Betel Box decorated with 4 Chinese scenes to the side and fish, shells and other motifs to the lid. Inside is the original plain tray. This is a fine example of a rare piece of 19th Century Straits Chinese silver. The maker's mark is Quian Xiang; there are 2 further symbols of overlapping diamond-shaped lozenges, which is possibly a shop trade mark; and the mark for Pure Silver.
