Japanese Silver Bowl with Chrysanthemum

状态:待售
A large, fine late 19th or early 20th century Japanese Silver Bowl, with the mark of Yoshikatsu of Yokohama. The bowl from the Meiji period, is of hemispherical form with scalloped rim upon a plain round foot. The exterior is profusely embossed with chrysanthemum pattern against a matte background. As is usual with many large Japanese bowls it is of double-skin construction. However, this bowl rather than having a simple plain silver interior, is fluted to the inside with the flutes rising up to create a patterned rim, giving it a dramatic and sophisticated appearance to the inside as well as the outside. Marked underneath with the maker’s mark 良勝製 and jungin mark, which is the Japanese symbol for "fine silver", meaning it has a silver content of sterling or above.
