Japanese Silver Bowl

A Meiji period Japanese Silver Bowl with extremely detailed iris decoration and of typical double-skin form. The bowl dates form around 1895 and was made by Katsuzo Mune, and their mark appears on the underside of the base of the bowl alongside the stamp "jungin" which translates as "pure silver". Silver from Japan that has the jungin mark indicates that the silver content is around 95%, that is a fineness above that of sterling silver which has to be a minimum of 92.5%.
