Status: FOR SALE
George III Antique English Silver Cruet, made by Henry Chawner and hallmarked London 1795. This elegant and charming table cruet is of classic boat-shaped form with a thread edge, and the five glass bottles are original and in perfect condition. Both upper edges of the cruet base are engraved with a contemporaneous crest. Henry Chawner became a freeman of the Goldsmiths’ Company in 1785 and entered his first mark in November 1786. In 1788 he married the daughter and heiress of Edward Hore, of Esher, Surrey, and a few years afterwards they moved into The Manor House of Newton Valance in Surrey. The house remained in the Hore Chawner family well into the 20th Century.
