Chinese Silver Ginger Jar

Status: FOR SALE
A Chinese Silver Jar, circa 1895, probably used for storing ginger. The body is embossed with naive figures of Three Elders to one side; and the other shows a youth directing an old man to a hermit's hut. The matte background features branches, rocks and birds, and the pull-off cover of the jar is decorated with squirrels and vine, also on a matte background. There is a rare mark on the base of '益泰' (Yi Tai) and it is possible that this is the mark of a silversmith working in the city of Xi'an in Shannxi Province, North West China.
