Chinese Export Silver Goblet

Status: FOR SALE
Chinese Goblet made in Canton circa 1850, decorated with water and water-birds within various flowers and reeds. The maker's mark is CUT, for Cutshing ( '吉星’ ) along with pseudo-hallmarks, which were often used in Canton on silver supplied to Westerners. Cutshing is one of the most famous of the Canton Thirteen Firms, which held Royal Warrants from the Qing Dynasty and were the earliest firms to trade with foreigners. The firm was in business from the 1820s to the 1860s.
