Chinese Export Silver Bowl circa 1895, finely decorated with chrysanthemums on a matte ground, interspersed with six butterflies in flight. It has a single vacant shield-shaped cartouche. Retailed by Wo Shing of Shanghai and made by Zan Ji (赞记), which translates to the Workshop of Zan. In Chinese culture, butterflies and flowers together are an auspicious motif.
